Department Management & Economics

Teaching

Managers in communications management are involved in the development and management of their organisation.

Firstly, this role requires a fundamental understanding of economic and business processes. Secondly, future managers need to assume responsibility for personnel and budgets and acquire relevant management skills.

The Management & Economics department contributes the business and economics competences to the MBA and M.A. degree programmes. In the management, these particularly include subjects of Strategic Management, Management and Organisational Theories, Organisational Behaviour & Leadership and Information Management; in the economics area, particularly the history of economic thinking, microeconomics and macroeconomics.

Under the University's mission statement of "Leadership by Communication", the teaching is focussed on leadership subjects. This is particularly part of the lessons on Organisational Behaviour & Management, however, leadership subjects are also focussed on in other business administration courses.

It is our aim to further qualify/optimally prepare new managers for their leadership functions with our MBA and M.A. degree programmes, as well as with our further education courses. Leadership also particularly means leadership by communication, i.e. through discussions with individual employees or several employees or assuming leadership by communicating with external parties.
