Department Politics & Public Affairs

Research

An interdisciplinary research emphasis is currently being established in the department, which deals with the legitimisation potential of public consensus and dialogue processes. In view of the increasingly conflicting debates on disputed subject areas such as ?Stuttgart 21?, or other major technical projects, the requirements for public participation procedures have obviously changed considerably. As a response to this change, new debate and dialogue procedures have been developed and tested in many countries for several years. Which methods are promising under which conditions and what needs to be noted with their structuring? With this research project, the department intends to generate practical findings for political actors and the interested public.
