The mentoring programme at Quadriga University of Applied Sciences

Mentors play a special role in education at Quadriga. These mentors are renowned, experienced professionals, mainly from the fields of communications management, media and politics. Many of them are also members of the Board of Trustees at Quadriga University Berlin.

A mentor will be assigned to each student (mentee). Mentoring helps both mentor and mentee develop a strong interpersonal relationship. The mentor supports the mentee in matters of personal career planning, gives the mentee insight into practical work in the field, and provides him or her with relevant contacts and increased access to networks.

In this way, the mentoring programme complements the educational instruction at Quadriga. Through personal contact with experienced professionals, the mentees learn more about themselves, their chances and perspectives; they will also gain motivation for their professional progress. They profit directly from their mentors' professional experience.

The mentoring programme continues throughout the course of the entire degree programme - 18 months. During this time period, mentor and mentee will meet regularly for one-on-one appointments.

My mentor, Manager of Corporate Communication: Philipp Schindera, took a great deal of time for me on a regular basis and put together a real "all-round-carefree package" for me, the led me to several teams of his 250-member Communications department. Therefore, at the beginning of my stay, I was able to experience the balance sheet press conference for the 2nd quarter and was then able to follow, inter alia, the communication on topics such as "Reduction of 1,600 positions", "Positioning of the female Directors" and "Product recall" up close.
